Supporting Hearing Loss In Long Beach, CA

We are a local chapter located in Lakewood, CA of the nation’s largest non-profit for supporting the hard-of-hearing. All our events and activities are free and open to the public. You’ll find a friendly, welcoming group of people who are helping themselves and each other learn to live better with hearing loss. Our mission is to raise awareness, policy and advocacy for those with hearing loss. Our chapter supports the locals of Long Beach, Los Altos and Lakewood, CA.

Monthly Meetups

Each month, we host an informal meetup at Hof’s Hut, for interested parties to get together and focus on topics pertaining to hearing loss. Each meeting is unique and we welcome all passionate individuals to collaborate and become a part of the HLAA community. No registration is required, but you can certainly introduce yourself to the chapter leader in the Contact form below to let us know you are coming. 

We meet every second Thursday in the month, except for July and August.  Check the event calendar for exact details.

Katie Wright

Katie is the Long Beach Chapter co-ordinator. Give her a call or send a note below to be welcomed into the club.

Katie Wright has served as newsletter editor, membership chair, and Walk4Hearing chair. She is a retired school teacher, having taught for 38 years at the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she also held multiple leadership positions.
Katie is hard-of-hearing (late-deafened) and has several family members who are hard-of-hearing. Katie is a certified hearing assistive technology trainer with the N-CHATT program. She is also the late-deafened representative on the Administrative Committee for the California Phones program. Katie lives in Southern California.
