About Us

Getting the Information You Need

The Hearing Loss Association of America, California State Association (HLAA-CA) provides information, education, support and advocacy services to Californians with hearing loss. Founded in 1989, HLAA-CA is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt run by volunteers with or involved with hearing loss. HLAA-CA is affiliated with the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), the nation’s leading organization representing people with hearing loss. With 11 chapters throughout California, HLAA-CA connects people with hearing loss to local community resources.

We work hard to:
  1. Advocate for hearing loss services, such as fire safety and emergency preparedness.
  2. Push for state legislation that benefits the California hearing loss community.
  3. Create educational webinars to benefit the hearing loss community.
  4. Host hearing loss information booths at conferences throughout the state.
  5. Run a website with information about hearing loss and HLAA chapters.
  6. Provide training and support for the HLAA chapters in California.
  7. Collaborate with other organizations about hearing loss issues.
